Pre-Fabricated Tanks

Fliteway fabricates and supplies tanks for environmental treatment applications including atmospheric storage, equalization, chemical mixing, and secondary containment. Built to UL 142, API 650, and ASME standards with materials selected for chemical compatibility and project specifications.

Tanks Engineered for Treatment Applications

Environmental treatment systems require tanks that are designed for the specific stored media, operating conditions, and regulatory requirements of the project. Unlike commodity storage tanks, treatment system tanks often require specialized fittings, baffles, level controls, overflow provisions, and integrated piping connections that interface with the process equipment.

Fliteway designs and specifies tanks as integrated components of our treatment systems. We size tanks for the required retention time, flow equalization volume, or chemical batch volume; select materials for chemical compatibility with the stored media; and design the tank connections, supports, and accessories for integration with the overall treatment system layout.

Tank Types

Storage Tanks

Atmospheric storage for treated water, extracted groundwater, and process fluids. Single-wall and double-wall designs with level gauges, overflow alarms, and drain valves. Carbon steel, stainless steel, FRP, and poly options.

Equalization Tanks

Flow equalization to dampen fluctuations in extracted water flow rates. Sized for the hydraulic retention time required to provide consistent flow to downstream treatment processes. Includes level controls and transfer pumps.

Chemical Mix Tanks

Tanks for chemical treatment processes including metals precipitation, pH adjustment, and chemical oxidation. Equipped with mixers, baffles, chemical injection ports, and sample taps. Materials selected for chemical compatibility.

Day Tanks & Feed Tanks

Small-volume tanks for chemical storage and metering. Caustic, acid, polymer, permanganate, and other treatment chemical day tanks with containment, level indication, and metering pump connections.

Knock-Out Drums

Vapor-liquid separators for removing entrained moisture from extracted soil vapors before the vacuum blower and vapor treatment equipment. Horizontal and vertical designs with level switches and automatic drain pumps.

Secondary Containment

Steel or concrete containment sumps, berms, and enclosures sized per EPA and state regulations. Leak detection, rain water management, compatible coatings, and drain provisions included in every design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of tanks does Fliteway fabricate for remediation projects?
Fliteway fabricates and supplies a range of tank types for environmental remediation applications. These include atmospheric storage tanks for treated water, equalization tanks for flow balancing, mix tanks for chemical treatment processes, day tanks for chemical storage, knock-out drums and moisture separators for vapor systems, and secondary containment tanks and sumps. Tank materials include carbon steel, stainless steel (304 and 316L), fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP), and polyethylene, selected based on the stored media, chemical compatibility, and project specifications.
What standards are Fliteway tanks built to?
Our tanks are designed and fabricated to the applicable industry standards for the specific application. Aboveground storage tanks are built to UL 142 (steel aboveground tanks for flammable and combustible liquids) or API 650 (welded carbon steel tanks). Atmospheric tanks follow ASTM standards for material specifications and welding procedures. All tanks include manufacturer data plates, hydrostatic test certificates, and material certifications. We can also supply pressure vessels designed and stamped per ASME Section VIII Division 1.
Does Fliteway provide secondary containment with tank systems?
Yes. Most environmental remediation tank installations require secondary containment per EPA 40 CFR 264/265 or state-specific regulations. We design and fabricate steel and concrete secondary containment systems sized for 110% of the largest tank volume or 10% of the total tank farm volume, whichever is greater. Our containment designs include leak detection provisions, drain valves, rain water management, and compatible coatings or liners for the stored materials.
Can Fliteway integrate tanks into skid-mounted or containerized systems?
Yes. Many of our treatment systems include integrated tanks mounted directly on the equipment skid or within a containerized enclosure. Examples include knock-out pots and moisture separators on SVE skids, equalization tanks on groundwater treatment systems, mix tanks for chemical precipitation processes, and day tanks for chemical feed systems. Integrating tanks onto the equipment platform reduces field installation work and ensures proper piping connections between the tank and the process equipment.
