Pre-Fabricated Buildings

Fliteway designs and manufactures custom pre-fabricated buildings for housing environmental remediation equipment. Our buildings are fully outfitted with structural steel framing, insulated panels, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and equipment mounting — delivered to your site ready for equipment installation and commissioning.

Purpose-Built Treatment Enclosures

Many environmental remediation projects require a permanent or semi-permanent building to house treatment equipment. Unlike general-purpose prefab structures, Fliteway buildings are designed from the inside out — starting with the equipment layout and process requirements, then engineering the building envelope around them.

This approach ensures proper equipment clearances for maintenance access, adequate ventilation for heat-generating equipment, correct floor drainage and secondary containment, properly sized electrical service and panel locations, and code-compliant egress and personnel safety features. The result is a building that functions as an integral part of the treatment system, not just a weather cover.

Our buildings are fabricated in modular sections at our Cudahy, Wisconsin facility, transported to the project site, and assembled on a prepared foundation. This approach minimizes on-site construction time and delivers the quality control advantages of shop fabrication.

Standard Building Features

Structural Steel Frame

Hot-dip galvanized or painted structural steel framing engineered for site-specific wind, snow, and seismic loads per IBC requirements.

Insulated Metal Panels

3" or 4" insulated metal panel walls and roof for thermal performance, weather resistance, and chemical resistance. Multiple color and finish options.

HVAC Systems

Unit heaters, exhaust fans, ventilation louvers, and air conditioning sized for the equipment heat load and ambient conditions. Freeze protection for cold climates.

Electrical Systems

Complete interior electrical including lighting, receptacles, disconnect switches, panel boards, and conduit. Designed to NEC with hazardous area ratings where required.

Floor Systems

Steel plate flooring, concrete-filled steel pans, or fiberglass grating. Secondary containment and floor drains routed to the treatment system.

Access & Safety

Personnel doors, equipment access doors (roll-up or double-swing), emergency lighting, exit signs, fire extinguishers, and eyewash stations.

Common Applications

Groundwater treatment pump houses
Air stripper enclosures with off-gas treatment
SVE blower and vapor treatment buildings
Chemical storage and feed system rooms
Electrical and control room enclosures
Combined treatment and office buildings

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes of pre-fabricated buildings does Fliteway offer?
Fliteway designs and manufactures pre-fabricated buildings in custom sizes to match your equipment requirements and site constraints. Common sizes range from small 8x10-foot instrument shelters to large 20x40-foot (or larger) treatment buildings that house complete remediation systems. Building dimensions are driven by the equipment layout, maintenance access clearances, code-required egress paths, and transportation limitations. We work with oversize load permit requirements to determine the maximum shippable building dimensions for each project location.
What materials are used in Fliteway pre-fab buildings?
Our pre-fabricated buildings use structural steel framing with insulated metal panel (IMP) wall and roof systems. Standard wall panels are 3-inch or 4-inch thick with polyurethane or mineral wool insulation cores and painted steel or aluminum exterior and interior skins. Structural steel is hot-dip galvanized or painted per project specifications. Flooring options include steel plate with diamond tread, concrete-filled steel pans, and fiberglass grating for drainage. All materials are selected for the project environment, chemical exposure, and design life requirements.
Are Fliteway pre-fab buildings designed for cold weather operation?
Yes. Many of our pre-fabricated buildings are installed in cold-climate locations where freeze protection is essential. Our cold-weather designs include insulated wall and roof panels with vapor barriers, unit heaters or radiant heating, pipe and instrument heat trace with insulation, weatherized HVAC systems, insulated and heated access doors, and freeze protection alarms. We design heating systems to maintain minimum interior temperatures during the coldest expected conditions at each project site.
Can Fliteway buildings meet local building code requirements?
Our pre-fabricated buildings are designed to meet International Building Code (IBC) requirements and can be engineered for specific state and local building codes, including wind load, snow load, and seismic requirements for the project location. We provide stamped structural engineering calculations and drawings when required by local building permit authorities. Buildings can also be designed for hazardous classified areas per NEC and NFPA requirements.
