Air Sparge / Biosparge Rental Fleet
Durango, Colorado
Fliteway deployed a multi-system air sparge and biosparge rental fleet for a consultant-managed remediation site in Durango, Colorado. The scope included five 25-HP systems and two 40-HP systems (one rental, one new) with automated sparge controls, six-port manifolds, and remote telemetry.
The Challenge
A global environmental consulting firm was executing an in-situ remediation program in Durango, Colorado that required multiple high-horsepower air sparge and biosparge systems deployed in parallel across the site. The project called for reliable, pre-engineered rental equipment that could be mobilized quickly, operated continuously for multi-year durations, and monitored remotely across a distributed well network.
Each sparge system needed individually regulated well ports, consistent airflow measurement for compliance documentation, and automated controls so field staff would not have to be on-site to modulate pressure or airflow. The site also required a smooth transition from rental to owner-operated equipment, which meant the rental units had to be purchase-ready after the initial deployment period.
The Solution
Fliteway provided a coordinated rental fleet consisting of five (5) 25-HP rental biosparge systems, one (1) 40-HP rental biosparge system, and one (1) newly fabricated 40-HP biosparge system. Each unit was built around a trailer-mounted Ingersoll Rand compressor package matched to the horsepower rating and site airflow requirements.
Every system included a six-port sparge manifold equipped with a pressure regulator, air flow transmitter, and solenoid valve at each port, allowing each sparge well to be independently metered and automatically cycled. This zone-level control lets operators tune the air delivery to subsurface conditions on a well-by-well basis without manual valve adjustments.
Automated sparge controls and remote telemetry were integrated across the fleet so that operating data — air pressure, air flow, valve state, and system alarms — could be monitored off-site. Fliteway coordinated delivery, mobilization, and installation of the mechanical piping between the equipment and each manifold, as well as warranty coverage on the compressor and controls packages.
Results
The seven-system fleet was mobilized to the Durango site and brought online to support active in-situ biosparging across the remediation area. Containerized construction and pre-wired controls allowed operators to begin treatment without extended on-site assembly or electrical fit-out.
Automated controls and remote telemetry reduced the need for daily on-site attention, while the six-port manifolds gave field staff granular control over each sparge well. The rental-to-purchase pathway negotiated in the proposal gave the consultant a clear long-term ownership plan once the initial rental period was complete.
Technical Details
Compressor Packages
Each system was built around a 25-HP or 40-HP Ingersoll Rand compressor sized for the target flow and injection pressure. Inlet filtration, discharge silencing, and check valves were integrated into the trailer-mounted skid to produce a turn-key sparging package.
Six-Port Sparge Manifold
Every unit was equipped with a six-port manifold that paired a pressure regulator, air flow transmitter, and solenoid valve at each outlet. This configuration lets the system cycle individual sparge wells and deliver documented airflow per well for regulatory reporting.
Automated Sparge Controls
Pulsed-sparge logic, alarm handling, and data logging were programmed into each unit. The control system manages compressor startup, solenoid sequencing, and pressure-based interlocks so the fleet runs unattended between service visits.
Remote Telemetry
Remote telemetry hardware on every unit streams operating data back to Fliteway and the site team, enabling off-site monitoring of run status, airflow, pressure trends, and alarm conditions across all seven systems from a single dashboard.
